Call to Artists

Join us for the Second Round of Breast Cancer Mermaid™ Art Project. Artwork submitted will be considered for upcoming Murals and Art Exhibitions. See Guidelines below.
The Breast Cancer Mermaid™ theme concept was created by Dr. Charley Ferrer to bring awareness and advocacy concerning breast cancer. It reminds woman (and men) that despite the ravages of this disease to a woman's body and her body-image, or the fact that she my lost a breast or two during surgery, she is still just as beautiful, alluring, and feminine as she's always been. We look for artists at any level, in any medium, and in any country, to submit their rendition of what they believe a mermaid with breast cancer would look like. You are also welcomed to show the mermaid (merman) in various stages of this disease as some of our prior artists have done. Multiple submissions for this round are not being accepted unless the paintings are part of a specific story line of the painting.
The Breast Cancer Mermaid™ submissions are used for educational purposes and are part of our Traveling Exhibition. They are not for sale. Only those paintings donated to the Foundation will be included in our exhibitions. By submitting your painting, you grant Cancer Tamer Foundation the copyrights to use your painting in marketing materials and as a means to generate funding to help the Foundation continue its education programs without compensation; in turn the Foundation will ensure you are acknowledged as the painting's artist. Questions, please email us.

For example: a bold mermaid; a mermaid with a dual or partial mastectomy; a mermaid with legs or tail; a mermaid undergoing treatment, etc. If in doubt, contact us with your idea.
Original artwork: Original works only. Artist must own the rights to their painting/artwork.

Canvas/Artwork: All canvas artwork must be mounted and able to stand and/or hang on its own. All paintings and photographs should have strong wire in the back to allow it to hang on its own. If submitting artwork with a frame, please use plexiglass instead of glass frames. Remember this is a traveling art exhibition and glass is heavy and easily breakable. Though your artwork does not need to include a frame, the artwork should cover the edges of the canvas and look professional.  Submission: Please submit an email photo of your artwork for review to: .gro.remaTrecnac%40ofni Once approved, it is your responsibility to mail/deliver the artwork to us at the address below. All submission must be in a secure case/box. Cancer Tamer is not responsible for loss or damage of the artwork in transit. When mailing, ensure to insure and track your painting. (First Class postage typically covers this cost.) Individuals submitting artwork from overseas, please contact us before mailing. Note submission of your artwork declares this is your original artwork which you willingly donated to Cancer Tamer Foundation without request for compensation now nor in the future and Cancer Tamer is allowed to use in their marketing materials, promotional materials, and traveling exhibitions as it deems appropriate.   Cancer Tamer Foundation 7789 S Suncoast Blvd #133 Homosassa FL 34446
