Our Breast Cancer Comedy Dramedy Program will teach participants how to create their own comedic skits using various professional techniques. Participants will be taught Storytelling & Stand-up Comedy. Participants can also share their journey through dramatic poetry and dialogues.
Program Goal: To create a safe space where women with breast cancer can discuss challenges and triumphs associatedwith this disease openly and without censor, with the goal of creating their own comedic skits to perform before family and friends. We've also included the ability to provide a poetry piece, in lieu of comedy. Not everything needs to be funny; just heartfelt.
Participants will enjoy the added benefit of finding a playful respite from the challenges of breast cancer through comedic and dramatic relief. Participants will be taught how to write and perform comedy, and poetry, receiving encouragement and feedback from professional comedic instructors who themselves may have been affected by breast cancer, thus, being uniquely qualified to understand the challenges women with breast cancer face and how to poke fun of those experiences. At the end of the workshop, participants will have created a 5-10 minute comedy skit which they will perform at a Graduation Show Live Online for their friends & loved ones. For October 2025, Cancer Tamer will host a Breast Cancer Comedy Dramedy Show Fundraiser where participants will share the stage and perform alongside professional comedians.
