Is a mastectomy now a "sexual" thing?

What do you think about the censorship happening with the Breast Cancer Mermaid Art Exhibit at City Hall?

Check out what others had to say about it on Reddit.

The one insidious truth about censorship is that you don't even know it's happening. Thus, rather than take down the fifteen (15) paintings the City found "objectionable", I covered them up with a pink ribbon and put a letter on the wall redirecting viewers to the "unrestricted" version of the paintings on our website.  Cancer tamer | Art Exhibition

Cancer Tamer cannot be the only one objecting to the "cover-up." It's wonderful to see others are as well.

A mastectomy isn't a sexual thing, nor is breast cancer. It's a reality we need to address and educate ourselves and our loved ones about.

In 2023, there were 353,510 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in women with an additional 2,800 new cases diagnosed in men in the US alone. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths.

More than FOUR MILLION American women are living with breast cancer.

According to Florida Department of Health, in 2021 there were 20,943 women diagnosed with breast cancer. Unfortunately, Hernando County has the highest rate of breast cancer in Florida. (Statistics for 2022 and 2023 were not available yet.)

This information is what is really being censored along with the beautiful paintings of all the artists who collaborated with us to make the concept of the Breast Cancer Mermaid a reality.
