Just for physicians & medical staff

We provide education specifically geared toward medical staff on how to best work with patients with breast cancer, addressing ways to empower patients and enable them to maintain a sense of control and dignity throughout their cancer journey. We also provide education for nurses to enable them to become “Nurse Navigators” addressing the specific issues and challenges experienced during cancer treatment; to enable them to provide the necessary resources and assurances which would encourage treatment participation and enhance mental health and recovery.

Enhancing Patient Participation WITHOUT Guilt or Shame

All too often patients steer away from recommended treatment options because of fear or feelings of discomfort with the options provided. Instead of taking it personally or using common/past practices of “bullying a patient for their own good” or not telling them the severity of their illness—as some cultures do—discover ways in which to better understand your patient’s needs to enable them to gain the courage and control they need to become an active participant in their treatment for better results. Various examples of common practices which need to change for better patient care are provided.
Duration: 2-hours

Addressing Care for Breast Cancer from a Patient’s Perspective

After the initial fear of being diagnosed with breast cancer passes, patients need a bit more understanding and compassion from their medical team and caretakers. This workshop addresses how to connect with your patients from the moment they walk through your door; addressing some of the common mistakes and perceived disregard for their comfort patients feel. We will address several instances where a patient’s dignity, control, comfort, and sense of safety and well-being come into play and how best to address these.
This experiential workshop will place you in the patient’s seat to discover how you can improve interactions and create a safe place for your patients which will lead to enhanced treatment compliance and participation.
