I had a wonderful time celebrating the New Year with Las Comadres a group for Latinas to come together to share laughter and do a little networking with each other.

Las Comadres was started by Nora Comstock in Austin, Texas who merely wanted to meet other Latinas in her area. Twenty-two years later, Las Comadres has over 22,000 members across the US and internationally.  There are no dues to join or interact.

Look for Las Comadres in your area or consider starting your own group. For those in New York City, we meet once a month in Manhattan. There are also groups in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island. This week, the NYC Chapter held its New Year & Birthdays celebration on Tuesday. We celebrated everyone in the groups birthday for the year at once. I got a gorgeous scarf for my birthday which is in April. Love getting presents anytime!
